This month, our question comes from Billie in Santa Rita, California asking about "the choice and color of makeup with the color of outfit."
How many times have you been at work or in a social environment and someone came up to you and said, "What a lovely blouse." Most people would rather hear, "You look great today!" This scenario usually happens because the outfit we chose to wear dominated our look. When choosing clothes they should compliment your look instead of overpowering it.
Just as we choose make-up that complements our natural skin tone and hair color, we should do the same thing for our clothes. If you wear clothes that do not go with your natural skin tone, the conflicting colors of your clothes will be the first thing that noticed.
If you remember people with brown eyes needs to wear cosmetics with a cool (or blue) base. These colors are generally going to appear more muted than a red-based color for people with blue eyes. Other examples of colors that will work well for people with brown eyes would be light pink (like our Shy), deep purple (like our Dazed), camel, beige (like our matte Saucy), navy blue (like our matte Wanton) and jet black (like our Ornery). Now for people that have blue eyes, you should concentrate on wearing colors like light blue (like our Hopeful), copper-gold (like our Tangy), apricot (like our Done That) and rose (like our Been There). These colors will complement the natural tones that occur in your skin and enhance your over all appearance.
People that have green eyes are able to wear cosmetics for brown-eyed people or blue-eyed people, yet do not mix the two types together. The same holds true for your clothing. Also remember there are a lot of neutral colors too. Everyone can wear these colors. One suggestion though about neutrals is that if you are going to wear a neutral color with a color that fits your skin tone make sure that the neutral color covers your legs and not your top. If you mixed these two types of colors you want the color that matches your skin tone to be closest to your face.
These are some suggestions you can take with you the next time you go shopping for a new outfit. I know there will be dresses or blouses that just call out to you. Remember what you want to get noticed, You or your dress?
