It is starting to get cold outside, so how does this affect our skin. Just think of the leaves on a tree. That paints a pretty gruesome picture. Well that is exactly what happens. There are a number of things that dry your skin during the cold season, like heaters, furnaces, and the cold temperature itself. So what do you need to do to protect one of your most valuable assets.
To start with you need to moisturize more often. The reason for this is the natural oils our bodies produce to protect our skin become thick in the cold, so they do not protect your skin as well. This is why moisturizing is so important. Remember moisture is the key to keeping your skin looking youthful. Heaters are another enemy we must combat to keep our skin soft and healthy. When heaters heat the air they also dry up any moisture that is in the air. This is why so many people use humidifiers during the winter.
You also want to watch what you use to clean your skin. Many people still use soap or alcohol to clean their skin, so their skin will feel "squeaky clean". All this does is promote the dryness of the skin by stripping away the natural oils. Use a product like our Moisture Cream Cleanser, that cleans your skin and moisturizes it as well. The next thing to consider is a scrub like our Honey Almond Scrub. A scrub will assist you in removing the dead skin that has accumulated on your face from the dryness you experience. Choose a scrub that is gentle. Your skin can be very sensitive during this season. Make sure you use a good moisturizer like our Moisture Magic Lotion afterwards to lock in the moisture and further protect your skin. You may even consider using a night cream to give you a little extra protection.
Use these tools I have shown you to fight the war against the cold season. They will help you keep your skin soft and healthy.
