Who is Armando?

Armando began his career as a make-up artist in Beverly Hills, California at the Century City and Beverly Hills Hotel salons. In 1969, Armando was offered the opportunity to bring his expertise to Las Vegas and open the make-up and facial department in the salon of the International Hotel (now the Las Vegas Hilton) where he worked on the singers of the Elvis Presley Show. He has worked his magic on stars including Priscilla Presley, singer/actress Diahann Carroll, country western singer Donna Fargo and actress Raquel Welch.
After establishing his reputation on "The Strip" and performing his miracles on celebrities, Armando came to love Las Vegas and opened his own salon where he developed his renowned reputation. For over twenty-five years, he served local patrons and performed make-over shows at conventions and local clubs.
In 1999, Armando closed the doors of his salon. He felt that he could reach more people with his ideas and information through the endless boundaries of the Internet. With the launch of the Make-up by Armando website, he has been able to help many people look their best through his techniques, philosophy and his professional line of cosmetics and skin care that he personally developed in 1969.
Armando's Philosophy

Armando believes that make-up brings out the best in all of us. By enhancing a woman's natural beauty rather than camouflaging, he has made so many feel good about themselves by showing them how beautiful they really are.
"Every woman I have met has beautiful eyes, so my concentration is always on the eyes."
The universal and timeless technique that Armando developed emphasizes a woman's eyes. His technique works for everyone regardless of facial shape or structure.
"If make-up is not simple, women will not do it."
In Armando's opinion, make-up application and skin care regimen should be simple and easy. He follows the KISS philosophy: Keep It Simple Simon.
Armando's Accolades
Armando has touched the lives of so many around him: in person, through the media and over the Internet.
On April 14th of 2001, Girl Scout Troop 273 in San Antonio, Texas held a Mother/Daughter Make-over Day centered around skin, nails, hair and make-up. Several students of a cosmetology department of a local high school taught the girls about taking care of their skin, styling their hair and applying make-up. Make-up by Armando made a donation for the event in the form of cosmetics. With the products that were left over from the event, the girls put together gift baskets to give to their local homeless shelter for the holidays.

Beauty talks: TV show on channel 5 in the Fox Network in Las Vegas. The show ran for 1-½ years, every Wednesday.

Fund raising for Child Abuse, Make a Wish Foundation, the restoration of the Boulder City Hotel, Battered and Abused Woman, the AIDS Foundation.

About Adem
Armando's son, Adem, received his cosmetology license in 1994 and began managing Armando's Salon. Adem brings a strong sense of family values to his father's business. He now manages Make-up by Armando as well as contributing to the site's Beauty Advice, answering make-up and skin care questions and writing the monthly newsletter, pulling from his experience to offer his skills and knowledge to the Internet audience. Adem also shot and edited all of the product photos seen on the Make-up by Armando site.

About Hilery
Developing websites since 1996 and professionally since 1997, Hilery has combined her expertise and design skills to bring you the Make-up by Armando website. She helps to bring a woman's point of view to the site and to the cosmetics themselves. Growing up with a father that is an amateur photographer, she is very comfortable in front of the camera and fell into the role of modeling for several of the Make-up by Armando photo shoots and the make-over video.
